Lottery Funding Can Get You Going
Through its Individuals with Disabilities Committee, the Lottery Grants Board can help with the purchase of vehicles, scooters and other mobility equipment to enable people to get out of their homes and participate in their community. As there is a heavy demand for these grants, not all applications can be approved.
The usual grant for a mobility scooter is $4000 + GST. The maximum grant for a car is $10,000 + GST, and for a van $12,000 + GST. People whose disabilities are the result of injuries are not eligible for a grant unless the accident occurred before the introduction of the ACC regulations in 1974.
For further information, please refer to website www.cdgo.govt.nz for an application form and to download an information sheet, or email grantsonline@dia.govt.nz, or call free-phone 0800 824 824 for any queries.
Note:
If above information is published after 1 July 2010, please note the following changes to vehicle grants and change figures above accordingly. The maximum grant for a car is to increase to $12,000 plus GST and the maximum grant for a van is to increase to $15,000 plus GST. All applications considered by the Committee after 1 July 2010 will be considered for grants at these new levels.
